Councillor Thomas Healy: A native of Sligo town, today Thomas Healy, his wife Majellla and their two girls live in Collooney. As a young man Thomas immigrated to London and found work in the construction industry before he returned to Sligo and was employed by the Office of Public Works. A keen sportsman Thomas was a trainer with the Owenmore Gaels G.A.A Club for many years and was awarded their Clubman of the Year title.

Thomas is a tireless community activist involved with school boards, playground groups, residents committees, local development agencies and the tidy towns. He was instrumental in running the Collooney Allotments Group and in the campaign to retain banking services in Collooney.
Issues of importance to Thomas are the speedy resolution of the N4 dual carriageway project, seeking economic development particularly rural jobs and defending constituents against a rise in the home tax.

With Sligo council dominated by government representatives and mired in huge debt Thomas believes that only a change in direction brought about by increased Sinn Fein Councillors can deliver the vital social and infrastructural services needed if Sligo is to develop its full economic potential.

Thomas was elected to the council in May 2014.
